Sector practices

Four areas where the tax questions are specific enough to have their own page, and their own set of written guides.

What people usually arrive with

Most enquiries are one of a handful of situations. Each of these is written up in full, so you can find out where you stand before getting in touch.

You hold RSUs or ESOPs in a foreign parent

Vesting is taxed here as salary and again abroad on sale, and the credit for the foreign tax has to be claimed on time or it is lost.

RSU double taxation and Form 67

You have foreign assets that were never disclosed

A one-time disclosure window is open until 31 December 2026, and what it costs is fixed. What it protects you from, and what you give up, are both worth knowing before the date passes.

An intimation or a notice has arrived

Most are not demands. Which section it cites decides what it means, what the deadline is, and whether anything is owed at all.

What a 143(1) intimation means

You are an NRI with income or property in India

Residence decides almost everything else - what is taxable, what treaty relief applies, and what the buyer must deduct on a sale.

NRI taxation under the 2025 Act

The bank has asked for CMA data

Seven statements, projected and past, that the bank tests for internal consistency before it tests them against your business.

What the bank is actually asking for

You run a GCC or a captive unit

Transfer pricing, permanent establishment risk and the safe harbour thresholds decide the tax outcome long before the return is filed.

About the practice

CA K Sanjay Bhargav is a Chartered Accountant (Membership No. 250054) with over a decade in practice. The firm handles the full compliance lifecycle — income tax, GST, audit, and corporate and ROC matters — for businesses, professionals, and individuals, with particular depth in NRI taxation and cross-border tax matters. Every engagement is handled by the CA directly, not routed through a call centre or junior desk.

The office is in HSR Layout, Sector 3, Bengaluru, and clients come from across the city — Koramangala, BTM Layout, Sarjapur Road, Electronic City and Whitefield — as well as from the rest of India and from NRIs worldwide. Work is remote-first by design: documents are exchanged securely over WhatsApp and email, filings are completed on the government portals, and verification happens from your registered credentials — so your location is never a barrier to getting it done right and on time.

Frequently asked questions

Can everything be done online?

Yes. Documents are exchanged over WhatsApp/email, filings are done on the government portals, and OTP-based verification happens from your registered mobile. An office visit is welcome but not required.

What does a consultation cost?

The first short discussion to understand the matter is free. A clear fee is quoted before any work begins.

What should I send first?

For notices — a photo/PDF of the notice. For returns — last year's return and your PAN. For everything else, just describe the situation; you'll get a list of exactly what's needed.

Which parts of Bengaluru does the practice cover?

The office is in HSR Layout, Sector 3, and clients come from across Bengaluru — Koramangala, BTM Layout, Sarjapur Road, Electronic City, Whitefield and the wider city. Because the work is remote-first, location within the city makes no practical difference to how an engagement runs.

Do you work with clients outside India?

Yes, and a large part of the practice is exactly that — NRIs and returning residents with Indian income, property or undisclosed foreign assets, and Indian entities with a foreign parent. Time zones are worked around; nothing requires you to be in the country.

There is a deadline on my notice. How quickly can this move?

Send the notice first and the response window is established the same day, because the section it cites fixes the deadline. Where the date is close, an extension request or a holding reply protects the position while the substantive response is prepared.
